And you shall
observe the feast of weeks, of the first fruits of wheat harvest, and
the feast of ingathering at the year's end. ~Exodus
34:22
>Shavuot is the Hebrew word for weeks. It takes place 7 weeks from the 2nd day of Passover, or exactly 50 days after Passover. The Greek word for the holiday is Pentecost, which means 50. God gave His people the Torah, the law, on Shavuot. Many years later, He gave His apostles the Holy Spirit during this feast. Yeshua was crucified during the Passover holiday, rose on the Festival of First Fruits, and sent His spirit on Shavuot. This is also the wheat harvest festival, a recognition of the physical provisions He has given. Shavuout is a celebration of His Word, His Law, His Spirit, and His Completeness. All seven of the feasts ordained by God in Leviticus 23 was fulfilled by Jesus, the Christ.
