Holidays celebrated by Jesus

Tu B'Shevat

Tu B'Shevat is the 15th day of the Jewish month, Shevat. It is the "birthday" for trees, and has become a Jewish Arbor day. God commanded the Israelites in Leviticus 19 not to eat of the fruit of the trees for the first three years after it is planted.

During the fourth year, the fruit belongs to God. The fruit may be eaten in the fifth year. It is customary to plant trees on this day, as the ages of trees are calculated from the 15th of Shevat.

And when you shall come into the land, and shall have planted all manner of trees for food, then you shall count the fruit thereof as uncircumcised: three years shall it be as uncircumcised unto you: it shall not be eaten of. But in the fourth year all the fruit thereof shall be holy to praise the Lord with. And in the fifth year shall you eat of the fruit thereof, that it may yield unto you the increase thereof: I am the Lord your God. ~Leviticus 19:23-25

Blessed is the man who trust in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is. For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreads out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat comes, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.
