Caribou live in herds. Unlike other deer and the domesticated reindeer, North American caribou migrate. During spring they move northward into the tundra feeding ground. During fall, they travel southward back into the forest

Reindeer eat a variety of plant life, including leaves and mushrooms. During the winter they rely on lichens, also known as reindeer moss. They find the moss by digging up the snow with their concave hooves.
